The function of music is to release us from the tyranny of conscious thought.
- Sir Thomas Beecham
Lonna Marie is a singer songwriter who’s putting meaning back into popular music. She’s here to prove you can have it all when it comes to pop music: a melody that you can’t get out of your head and lyrics that matter. She’s driven by human emotions and wanting to feel connected and that honestly and vulnerability bleeds through every song she writes.
Originally from Hollywood, Florida, spent her early 20’s hustling in New York City, and now calls Los Angeles her home..for now. She began her singer songwriting career in New York where she created an organization called Underground Artists Live; a safe haven where artists could perform in a supportive and welcoming environment located in the heart of the LES. Before leaving New York in 2012, she recorded her debut EP entitled "Oh no”, which includes 7 original songs, under the direction of Sean Gill (The Passengerz, Nightlife Recording ). She said goodbye to New York City with her final performance at The Studio at Webster Hall.
Her move cross country turned into a tour where on the road she performed at The Listening Room (Nashville), The Rusty Nail (New Orleans), The House of Blues (Houston and Dallas) and finishing off the run at The Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles. LA welcomed her with open arms and she's had the opportunity to perform at legendary venues like The House of Blues, The Standard Hotel and, her biggest show to date, The Hotel Cafe.
Lonna Marie released her sophomore EP “The worst has just begun” in October of 2014, which was produced by Will Golden (Matt Nathanson, Meiko). Her single "Drifting" was recently named runner up in the Song of the Year songwriting contest and has been featured on independent radio stations across the country. She’s currently in the studio recording with Jamie Candiloro (REM, Ryan Adams) working on new material for Spring/Summer 2015. Lonna also has been recognized by major companies like Paypal and Dropbox for her jingle writing and in April of 2014 was flown out to San Francisco to open Dropbox’s quarterly keynote by CEO, Drew Houston.
